SATV Dec 18 Pokhara: Pokhara, the tourism capital of Nepal, is set to host the much-anticipated international conference "Fewa Dialogue-2024." A pre-event press meet was held today in Pokhara to provide details about this collaborative initiative between Tribhuvan University of Nepal and Sichuan University of China.
Tribhuvan University, a key institution in Nepal’s higher education sector, has partnered with Sichuan University—one of China’s leading educational institutions—to organize this landmark event. The conference aims to enhance academic collaboration and promote cross-cultural exchange.
Tribhuvan University, which operates across all 76 districts of Nepal and maintains partnerships with around 182 universities worldwide, has been pivotal in producing skilled professionals for the nation. The university prioritizes collaborations with global institutions, particularly those in neighboring countries, to facilitate joint research projects, exchange programs for students and faculty, and international conferences to share expertise and experiences. The Fewa Dialogue-2024 is a continuation of this commitment to global engagement.
The conference, being held for the first time, is designed to foster deeper cooperation among South and Southeast Asian countries. Its objectives include transforming interconnectivity into opportunities, enhancing technological and developmental partnerships, and contributing to Nepal’s national aspiration of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali." Organizers hope the event will facilitate dialogue on economic, social, and educational collaborations while sharing knowledge and expertise.
The event will see participation from 30 Chinese representatives, 20 Nepali delegates, and 38 experts from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Representatives from Bhutan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and other nations will also join the discussions.
The conference will be inaugurated by former President of Nepal, Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari, and attended by several prominent personalities, including Education, Science, and Technology Minister Mrs. Vidya Bhattarai, former ministers Kamal Thapa, Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, and Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat. Former vice-chairpersons of the National Planning Commission, such as Dr. Dipendra Bahadur Kshetri, Prof. Dr. Govind Raj Pokharel, and Dr. Bishwo Paudel, along with former ambassadors, professors, and experts, will also contribute to the discussions.
Organizers expressed optimism that the conference, marked by enthusiastic participation from multiple nations, will yield meaningful dialogue and positive outcomes. They emphasized that such initiatives will strengthen Nepal’s relationship with neighboring countries, particularly China, while delivering a constructive message to the nation and the broader region.
