SATV Kathmandu, Feb 7:The 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations and the joyous celebration of the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival were marked with a grand event at the Army Officers Club in Kathmandu on February 6. The program, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, witnessed the participation of distinguished personalities from both Nepal and China.
Among the notable attendees were His Excellency Ambassador Chen Song of China to Nepal, Guo Qihua, Deputy Director of the Cultural Exchange Department of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Jin XiaoDong, President of the Overseas Chinese Association in Nepal, renowned Nepali social worker and artist Ani Choying Dolma, and acclaimed film director Min Bahadur Bham.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Chen Song extended New Year greetings to all Chinese citizens residing in Nepal. He emphasized that the Chinese Embassy serves as a home away from home for every Chinese national abroad and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring their safety and well-being. Reflecting on the 70-year milestone of Nepal-China relations, the Ambassador expressed confidence that the bond between the two nations would continue to grow stronger, rooted in mutual respect and friendship. He also reiterated China's unwavering support for Nepal's overall development.
Ambassador Chen expressed gratitude to the "Family China: Spring Festival Together" cultural troupe, which performed in Nepal for the first time, leaving the audience spellbound. Their performances made this year's Spring Festival and New Year celebrations truly unforgettable, he noted.
The event featured a vibrant array of cultural performances, including traditional music, dance, and other entertaining acts. Artists captivated the audience with mesmerizing moves, such as dancing with drum-like figures on ropes, earning thunderous applause. Renowned singer Yin Xiumei's classical musical performance, accompanied by graceful dancers, left everyone in awe. Additionally, a magician's act, which seemingly produced a glass of wine, and other various items, added a thrilling touch to the evening.
