Revenue collection up by 9%

SATV, Kathmandu, Aug. 18: Revenue of around Rs. 92.22 billion has been collected in the first month of the current fiscal year 2026/27.

According to the daily report of the Financial Comptroller General Office under the Ministry of Finance, the revenue collection of the state stands at Rs. 92.22 billion which is 5.84 per cent of the annual target (Rs. 1,580 billion) during the review period.

Out of the total, tax revenue stood at Rs. 85.19 billion or 6.07 per cent of the target and non-tax revenue stood at Rs. 7.03 billion or 3.97 per cent of the annual target.

Of the total revenue collection target of Rs. 1,580 billion, target has been set to collect Rs. 1,403.31 billion under tax revenue and Rs. 177 billion under non-tax revenue in the current fiscal year.

Revenue collection has increased by 9.18 per cent (Rs. 7.76 billion) during the first month of the current fiscal year as compared to the same period last fiscal year 2025/26.

The government collected revenue of 5.71 per cent (Rs. 84.46 billion) of the annual target of Rs. 1,480 billion in the first month of the last fiscal year. 

During the review period of the current fiscal year 2026/27, grant of Rs. 240 million has been received. This is only 0.39 per cent of the annual target of Rs. 61.74 billion in the current fiscal year.

Likewise, the government has obtained Rs. 970 million under other receipts during the review month of the current fiscal year. 

During the review period, the total income of the government stood at Rs. 93.43 billion. This is 5.69 per cent of the annual receipts target of government.

During the review period, the government has spent around Rs. 41.88 billion budget. The government is in surplus in the first month of the current fiscal year due to lower expenses than total income. 

The government budget is in surplus of Rs. 51.55 billion during the review period. 

The government has spent a budget only 1.97 per cent of the total annual budget of Rs. 2,124.34 billion during the first month of the current fiscal year.

Of the total budget expenses, capital expenditure stands only at 0.31 cent of total allocation in the first month of the current fiscal year.

Of the Rs. 431.10 billion allocated under capital expenditure, only Rs. 1.32 billion has been spent by August 16, 2026. 

The government had spent only 0.18 per cent (Rs. 726 million) of the annual allocation of Rs. 407.88 billion in the first month of the last fiscal year, 2025/26.

The recurrent expenditure of the government stood at 1.68 per cent (Rs. 21.40 billion) during the review period. 

The government has allocated Rs. 1,270.59 billion under the heading of recurrent expenditure for the current fiscal year.

Likewise, the government has spent Rs. 19.15 billion under the heading of financing in the first month of the current fiscal year. 

That is 4.53 per cent of the total allocation of Rs. 422.64 billion.
