SATV December 22, Kathmandu: The Confucius Institute celebrated its 20th global anniversary and 17 years since its establishment at Kathmandu University with a series of events in Lalitpur today.
Addressing the program, Li Shuwang Chang, Director of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, highlighted that over 2,500 volunteer teachers are currently teaching the Chinese language in Nepal. He emphasized the institute's remarkable journey, which began in South Korea in 2004, expressing hope that it will continue for centuries.
The director also noted that the institute facilitates educational exchanges by enabling Nepali students to study in China and bringing Chinese students to Nepal. He outlined plans for expanding orientation and vocational training programs to deepen cultural exchange and strengthen Nepal-China relations further.
Lalitpur Metropolitan City representative Devi Prasad Upadhyay expressed gratitude for the hospitality and acknowledged the institute's contributions to promoting Chinese language, technology, and cultural exchange.
The event featured cultural performances by students from Khwopa School, Pathshala Nepal, and other institutions, showcasing traditional Chinese and Nepali dances and programs reflecting the rich heritage of both cultures.
