SATV Kathmandu, February 09, 2025 – In a bid to foster youth football development and strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and China, a friendly football match between the Nepal Youth Team and the China Yunnan Youth Team is set to take place on February 15, 2025 at the Dasharath Stadium. The event is organized by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) in collaboration with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nepal.
The details of the match were unveiled during a press conference held earlier today. ANFA will oversee the technical aspects of the game, while the Chinese Embassy will manage responsibilities such as marketing, broadcasting, ticketing, and cultural programs.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy, highlighted the significance of the match as one of the most exciting and meaningful activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year. He expressed optimism about the upcoming game, noting that the Nepal Youth Team had emerged victorious in their previous encounter and is preparing rigorously this time as well. Mr. Wang also mentioned that the Yunnan Youth Team has been training intensively for the match. Emphasizing the popularity of football in both countries, Mr. Wang stated that the sport would add a new dimension to Nepal-China relations. He also acknowledged 2025 as the "Visit Nepal Year" in China, aimed at promoting Nepali tourism. Mr. Wang expressed confidence that the match, featuring teams from Nepal and Yunnan—regions with similar geographical landscapes—would be both thrilling and competitive. He extended gratitude to the National Sports Council, ANFA, and the main sponsor, Tongfang Namami, for their support in organizing the event.
Meanwhile, the Nepal Youth Team, under the guidance of head coach Rajesh Shahi, is currently undergoing closed training sessions in preparation for the match.
Organizers believe that the friendly match will not only deepen mutual understanding between Nepal and China but also contribute to the overall development of football in the region, marking a new milestone in the sport's growth.
