Indian businessmen flocked to Nepal ,to get the China's new corona vaccine ? Indian media: Nepal health department denies

India's "Eurasia Times" article on April 17, original title: Indians are swarming into neighbouring Nepal to get the Chinese new corona vaccine? An argument about Indian businessmen is causing controversy-they are flocking to Nepal to get the Chinese new corona vaccine (because) this will make them eligible to travel to China. However, this statement was denied by the Nepal health department.

India "Eurasia Times": Indians are swarming into neighbouring Nepal to get china's new corona vaccine ?

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that in a hospital in Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal), medical staff were surprised to see people with Indian identity cards waiting in line for vaccinations. These people are carrying suitcases and large pieces of luggage, which clearly shows that they are rushing to somewhere. An official hospital of Kathmandu told the BBC that when the hospital’s medical staff told Indian citizens that they could not be vaccinated, the latter they became angry and tried to pressure them.

Just before the BBC issued the report, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal stated that it would provide convenience to visa applicants who have been vaccinated with the new corona vaccine produced in China and have relevant supporting materials.

However, despite media reports that some Indian businessmen have been vaccinated in Kathmandu in order to be eligible to go to China , according to the Press Trust of India, Nepal’s health authorities have denied such claims.

Shri Vastav, the information officer of the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal, said that they "have been keeping the vaccination records in a standardized manner." Given that Nepal is prioritizing vaccinations for its population, it is unlikely to provide vaccines to Indian businessmen.

India faces a shortage of vaccines, but has not yet authorized the import of any vaccines from China. This may be related to the hostility between India and China. Nepal received 348,000 doses of vaccines made in India through the Covid-19 Vaccine Implementation Plan (COVAX) led by WHO and other institutions last month. New Delhi has pledged to provide 1.92 million doses of vaccine to this small country in the Himalayas under the COVAX framework. But after India’s vaccine production was frustrated, Nepal turned to China, which has donated 800,000 doses of vaccine.

As the "Eurasia Times" once reported, out of consideration of important interests in Nepal, China is increasing its influence there. Global Times
