SATV Feb 12,KATHMANDU: Aiming to introduce Chinese science and technology while contributing to Nepal's technological growth, the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum Nepal International Tour and Exhibition Program has commenced at the B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory, and Science Museum in Kirtipur.
The event was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Sanat Kumar Sharma, Executive Director of the B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory, and Science Museum, with key dignitaries in attendance, including Nepal’s Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Biddhya Bhattarai, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Chen Song, Secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Bishwo Babu Pudasaini, and Director of the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum, Guo Zhe.
Science and Technology Equipment Handover
As part of the event, the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum handed over scientific equipment to Nepal. The handover was conducted by Director Guo Zhe, who presented the equipment to Sanat Kumar Sharma. In return, Minister Bhattarai presented a token of appreciation to Director Guo Zhe on behalf of the Nepalese government.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Minister Bhattarai and Ambassador Chen Song, marking the beginning of an initiative to enhance Nepal-China collaboration in science and technology.
Strengthening Nepal-China Technological Cooperation
Speaking at the event, Minister Biddhya Bhattarai highlighted the growing collaboration between Nepal and China across various sectors, including science and technology. She expressed optimism that China's support in Nepal's technological development would help the country achieve significant progress in the field.
She also emphasized the role of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in fostering economic and technological cooperation between the two nations, stating that such initiatives open new avenues for mutual growth.
Ambassador Chen Song reaffirmed China’s commitment to Nepal’s holistic development, stressing that the 2024 BRI Framework Agreement would further strengthen Nepal-China relations. He noted that China’s advancements in science and technology present valuable learning opportunities for Nepal, and China is ready to share its expertise.
"Spark Museum" Exhibition: A Glimpse into Advanced Technology
The exhibition, branded as "Spark Museum," features 60 interactive exhibits, including AI-powered robots, glasses-free 3D televisions, and a mobile dome theater showcasing cutting-edge technology. School students from various institutions attended the exhibition, engaging with futuristic innovations firsthand.
Director Guo Zhe highlighted that since its inception in 2011, the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum has conducted numerous international exhibitions under the BRI framework. The initiative has previously been hosted in Myanmar, Cambodia, and several other countries, with Nepal now becoming a part of this global outreach.
The exhibition is scheduled to tour Nepal for three years, during which Nepal and China plan to jointly establish a "Listen Science Space" for collaborative research, personnel exchanges, training, and curriculum development.
Organizers believe such events will strengthen Nepal-China relations and promote technological awareness among Nepalese youth, paving the way for future scientific advancements.
